Tropical Storm Noel hit the Caribbean island of Hispaniola on Sunday October 28, 2007, lingered on for almost a week with high winds, torrential rains and devastated the Dominican Republic and Haiti, killing nearly 150 men, women and children and destroying over 100,000 homes. More than half million people in both countries were made homeless.
The Multicultural Council, through its affiliate Fundacion Dominicana Multicultural and AAA Hospital and Health Centers have started a campaign to collect donations of medicine, food, blankets, educational supplies and other goods and services.

The Multicultural Council works together with the Health Department of the Dominican Republic, many local clinics and non-government organization and donated a lot of medicine and clinical supplies, besides helping the victims ourselves.
The storm is over but the homeless men, women and children will continue to need your help. We are expecting alarming health problems, including conjunctivitis, diarrhea, respiratory illnesses. The Dominicans and Haitians already have a very high incident of Hypertension, Diabetes, Cancer and HIV.
